This year, we raised over $6,100 to provide hygine kits for HOPE families

Hygiene Kits

With the help of local Rotary Clubs, and individual donors, LEAP was able to raise over $2,000 to provide 60 personal hygiene kits for HOPE families! Hygiene kits include: a fleece blanket, socks, gloves, a beanie, toothpaste, a toothbrush, shampoo, body wash, deodorant, a comb, a razor, shaving cream, a nail filer, a shower cap, and hand wipes.

Ladybugs Movement

LEAP is working with the local Ladybugs Movement and Stephanie Prescott, a Concord Rotarian and leader of the local movement, to provide feminine hygiene products to schools in the district. LEAP is specifically focusing on providing these kits to low-income and Title 1 schools within the Mount Diablo Unified School District.

  • Build-A-Bear Foundation

During the 2021 holiday season, LEAP is working with the Build-A-Bear Foundation to provide Build-A-Bear furry friends to every K-5 homeless student in MDUSD + more! Bags were assembled and put together by local LEAP tutors and volunteers, then distributed to local MDUSD Title 1 schools as well as to local homeless shelters and support groups. This project is ongoing through 2023

Target

  • Target Gift Cards

With help of the Riley's Way Foundation, LEAP has distributed 145 Target gift cards (valued at $20 each) to local homeless students.

Over the summer, LEAP hosted a summer camp for homeless students at CCIFH

  • Summer Camp

In the summer of 2021, LEAP worked with HOPE Solutions (previously Contra Costa Interfaith Housing) to hold a 2 week camp for local homeless students. The first week of the camp focused mainly on high school and college preparedness. College and career advisors, local high school students, and students from Stanford University came to speak and answer questions. The second week focused on social issues, where we dove into topics like cyber bullying, peer pressure, mental health, etc..
